Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine

Rating: B

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (quite a mouthful, isn't it?) is a Tetris-like game where the object is to clear levels not by fitting various shapes together, but by matching four or more like-colored blobs as they come falling from above, at first slowly, then faster and faster with every new round. The graphics, with the exception of the dark gray background, are cartoonish and colorful and the music is fast and compelling and definitely suits the game. And while arguably not as good as the King-of-all-Puzzle-Games that inspired it, Mean Bean Machine is very fun, and quite addictive. It can be played solo or with two-players, two-player mode being the most fun and a department in which Mean Bean really kicks Tetris' ass.
