Our hockey (er skull) mask-wearing hero returns, this time madder than ever. Go through a haunted house breaking bones and severing heads, facing very tough and very creepy boss monsters at the end of each level. The object is to save Rick's wife and son before it's too late (you have a certain amount of time to reach the end of each level before something horribly macabre happens to them), though there is more than one ending to the game depending on whether you succeed or fail. Splatterhouse 3 sports much improved visuals and sound over its predecessor Splatterhouse 2. The gameplay is different too: instead of being a side-scroller, this one plays more like Final Fight. Very strange game, very fun, and very cool. A must-own.
