Well, besides the Genesis, I do have some other systems that I like.
Sony Playstation
I don't know what it is about this machine, but I really like it. I didn't even own my first Playstation until Summer 2001, but within a week or so I found myself hooked on it more than any other system I owned.
Favorite Playstation games: Without a doubt, my favorite PSX game has to be Tenchu: Stealth Assassins.
Not only is this possibly the best Playstation game I've played, but
it's one of the best video games I've played in my life. The replay
value of Tenchu is amazing. Even though I've completed every mission as
Grand Master a dozen times, I still find myself coming back for more.
Too bad the voice acting is so sucky, though -- I mean, REALLY bad --
with the exception of Onikage, who I get a real kick out of.
Other PSX favorites: Deception II: Dark Delusion, Syphon Filter, Soul Blade, Wipeout 3.
What's great is that Playstation games are dirt cheap at this point, so it doesn't hurt to try them out because if they suck you can always resell them and more or less get back what you paid for them.
I
wanted to try out some Playstation RPGs, of which there are supposedly
many good ones, but I got sick of the kiddie-looking anime characters
with the giant heads. One exception to this kiddie phenomenon is the
game Vagrant Story, but even in that one the hero has a
girl's name and wears gay leather bar chaps with the ass cut out. To the
Japanese game companies: can you please make some American (read:
adult) looking RPGs? And no funny stuff. Thank you.
Sega Dreamcast
Ah, the Sega Dreamcast. Such a sad tale. It was only out a couple of years before it died. I bought my Dreamcast 9/99 and had such high hopes for it. After the Saturn fiasco, however, we all should have known what was coming.
Favorite
Dreamcast games: Soul Calibur (duh), Speed Devils (go figure),
Armada, Power Stone 2, Gigawing 2, and a couple others I can't think of right now. Hey,
come to think of it, I guess the Dreamcast does have a slew of
excellent games (I should mention that this system is a racing and 2D
fighting fan's wet dream), and the best part about it is you can get them for dirt cheap, so go buy one.
Nintendo Game Boy
I also have a Gameboy Color, though it doesn't see much use. Check out the
screen though (click pic for close-up). Pretty nifty cart, huh?
Favorite Game Boy games: Tumblepop, Mr. Do, Tetris.
Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)
Last but not least is my NES. The NES made history as one of the top-selling consoles ever (after the Gameboy and PSX): 62 MILLION were sold world-wide.
Favorite NES games: Gyruss, Pac-Man, Mike Tyson's Punchout, Mario Bros Arcade.
So there you have it, the joys of being a video game nerd. Just wait
until I can afford a couple of pinball machines. Come back again some time and
maybe you'll see some additions here.
